Monday, June 29, Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, the Holy Father Benedict XVI will preside at a concelebrated Mass in St. Peter's Basilica with some metropolitan archbishops, including Archbishop our Archbishop Salvatore Pappalardo , which will be imposed on the sacred pallium. The pallium is a liturgical woven from the wool of two lambs, which the Pope blesses every year on January 21, Memorial of St. Agnes. The Palli are then packaged preserved in the Basilica of San Pietro, in a shrine at the foot of the altar of the Confession, the tomb of St. Peter. This symbol certifies the communion with the Bishop of Rome, and also expresses the power that the new Archbishop takes law in his own jurisdiction.
